The Cottages

Thornthwaite has a number of cottages available, they make the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District from. As they are a home from home they come with everything you will need to make your stay a pleasant one (specific details can be found on each of the cottages pages).

The cottages are available for short stay or week long breaks and can be used throughout the year, though please be aware that at certain times they can book up early so plan a head to avoid any disappointment.

Though there is no shortage of outdoor space (you can wonder over miles of footpaths) every cottage has access to a garden with furniture and BBQ's provided.

In 2009 we completed the renovation of 3 cottages (Stable, Blacksmiths and Woodsman's). With new fixtures and fittings these cottages also make use of double glazing and heating provided by a ground source pump will mean that not matter the time of year or weather you stay will be comfortable.

Allow our accommodation has either a 3 or 4 star rating from Visit Britain.

For the small sum of £15 pets are welcome in all our accommodation except Stable, Blacksmith's and Woodsman's Cottages.
